ABUBAKAR N. KASIM
AS we say farewell to the passing year, I hope the world will unite to say goodbye to the voices of intolerance, division and hate.
I hope as Canadians overcame the voice of intolerance and embraced the voice of hope in the election, the Americans will follow pursuit to reject the policies of fear and hate and choose a voice of sanity that would bring people together.
I can't imagine what our world will look like if Donald Trump becomes the Chief-in-Command of the most powerful nation in the world.
My hope is to see a positive and real change in European countries where radical conservatives have dominated the arena.
We only think of particular faith community when we discuss radicalism. We think of Muslims, but in reality, there are fanatics in every community including politics. These radicals are probably worse than the one we usually talk about.
Imagine if the Republican radical Donald Trump gets the ability to press the nuclear weapon's button and the impact his action will have on our global village. He will not hesitate to use nuclear weapons as his spokesperson recently indicated.
As reported by MSNBC a spokesperson for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump threatened that the business mogul would be willing to use nuclear weapons if he were elected to serve as commander in chief.
As we have seen in Trump, radicals come in different sizes and shapes. As we track down the so-called Islamic radicalism we should do the same about other radicals and try to figure out who had played a role to radicalize people like Mr. Trump.
Sadly, humanity as a whole has been side-lined and voices of sanity are suppressed. Only voices of intolerance and extremism are doing the talking with their big mouth. They hijacked the arena and are the only one playing in the schoolyard.
I hope we will all unite to reclaim the banner from these fanatics who are ruining our planet and creating mischief on the land.
They need to be confronted and told the universe is vast enough which can accommodate all of us irrespective of color and creed. We should learn to live and let live.
The world is not as narrow as they portray it to be where they had drawn a line in the sand that you are either with us or with the enemy.
We need to show these radicals including Trump and his alike that the universe is bigger than them and their narrow minded ideas.
I hope the New Year will be a prosperous one where humanity will once again rediscover their sense of humanity and try to resolve their issues with rationale and dialogue instead of the barrel of the gun and spilling more blood.
My ultimate hope is to see the United States and its allies avoid resorting to bombings which never bring peace but create more death and destruction and fuels instability and chaos.
I hope to see them using their intellect and sanity to tackle the crisis we as humans are facing around the globe.
I really hope to see peace throughout our planet where humans respect one another once again and live in peace and harmony.
Happy New Year
